Licensing Terms Summary

What owning a Java product license actually means, explained simply

Last updated 13 September 2026

Buying a Java product gets you a license to use it, not ownership of the actual files. This page explains what that means day-to-day, for the full legal wording see our Terms of Service.

What your license covers #

Your license lets you use the product inside Roblox experiences you own or directly develop for. It's non-exclusive and non-transferable, meaning it's tied to you (or your group) specifically, and can't just be handed off to someone else, unless it's gone through our proper transfer process.

What you can't do with it #

  • Re-upload, resell, or redistribute the assets, publicly or privately
  • Reverse-engineer, modify, or decompile any files to get at internal code or protected content
  • Remove our branding, credit, or any identification from the product
  • Use it in games or communities that promote NSFW, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate material
  • Try to bypass or circumvent our licensing checks

Leaving a group #

If you're the license holder and you leave, get removed, or resign from the group that owns the license, all Java assets need to be removed from that project. The license doesn't carry over with you personally, it stays with the account or group it was originally granted to.

If the terms are broken #

Breaking these terms can mean:

  • Immediate license revocation, without a refund
  • Being permanently blacklisted from future Java products
  • Potential legal action, particularly for redistribution or reselling

Minimum age #

You need to be at least 13 to use or purchase Java products. If you're under 13, you can only access our content with a parent or guardian's supervision and consent.

For the full legal terms, see our Terms of Service.
